God's word transforms us. We must walk our way to heaven, not just talk our way to heaven. SOAP is a method used in journaling to make Scripture verses relevant to us and our life. Take a verse that speaks to you and write your own SOAP, and let it bring cleansing and healing where needed. Here is mine:
SCRIPTURE:
The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing. [Zephaniah 3:17]
OBSERVATION:
This verse reminds us that God is always with us, and entering into His presence saves us. No matter what our problems are, God’s love quietens our minds. We can so easily get lost in worldly cares and concerns which seem to be never-ending, and our minds fixate on worldly issues till it exhausts us. Eventually we let go of trying to be the one in control and make everything right, and surrender to the situation. Our minds become quiet and we feel that beyond it all, everything is okay. Problems are of the world and of time. But beyond them, there is timeless peace which nothing touches. A space where we feel peace and stillness and it delights our souls. As God delights in us when we seek His presence, we delight in Him when we enter into His presence.
APPLICATION:
Never be too busy to enter into the silence of God’s presence. It is transcendental to worldly problems. In this quiet space, peace washes over you. Problems may not go away, but you touch a space where there are no problems, and you are refreshed and your mind, heart and soul comes to rest.
PRAYER:
Dear God, please always make your love known to me, and not just in clichéd words: God loves you. May I know your love, feel your love, and be aware of your love at all times as a personal experience. May I know that you are always there for me. May I delight in you, as you delight in me. Please quiet me with your love. Let your love soak into the heart of my being and fill me with delight.
